About Us
Earth Big Data (EBD) was founded in 2015 to address the big environmental challenges of our time by providing access to modern computational tools and that mine large Earth observation data sets. We are fully cloud-based and committed to open-source solutions that are scalable, flexible and optimized to a wide range of budgets, deadlines, and objectives.

Publications on Research Gate
Dr. Josef Kellndorfer’s research focuses on monitoring and assessing terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and disseminating Earth observation data products to policy makers to improve decision making and support capacity building. He is a distinguished visiting scientist at the Woodwell Climate Research Center and currently serves on various expert working groups within NASA, NOAA, the Japanese Space Agency JAXA, the Group on Earth Observation, and GOFC-GOLD to advance the use of remote-sensing technology for natural resource mapping and monitoring. He founded Earth Big Data to provide scalable solutions to modern data-mining challenges.

sEPPO: how it works
SEPPO (Software for Earth Big Data Processing, Prediction Modeling, and Organization) is our proprietary system to scale, optimize, and control large data-processing jobs using cloud-based data storage and computing assets. We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to minimize cost and maximize computational power at every step of a job, and SEPPO is designed to employ the right type of machine at any given time. This together with our knowledge of and access to international satellite data sets and processing tools means you have a strong and knowledgeable partner to find answers in an ocean of data. Let us find a way to scale up your data recipes and work flows to the world of large-volume processing.
